The State of Montana is committed to developing a long-term strategy to increase broadband use in communities. Broadband touches all parts of Montana through economic development, education, healthcare, public safety, ranching, agriculture, and civic engagement. It is transforming the way businesses, large and small, function, communicate and grow.
Access to the world through broadband helps to allow these entities to create and disseminate information, literature, forms, policies, and business at a rate of speed and level that could not otherwise be achieved.

Broadband usually refers to high-speed internet connections.
Broadband access is different from "dial‑up" access, in that broadband connections are typically ON all the time, compared to "dialing" in on a phone line to an Internet Service Provider.
